Whole Grain Yeast Biscuits

These biscuits have such a wonderful flavor and texture. Perfect as a side dish are used as a breakfast sandwich.

Equipment

  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet or cast iron skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 cup flour I use freshly milled
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Mix flour and salt. Add olive oil and mix until crumbly.
  • Heat milk to lukewarm.
  • Add milk and yeast to flour mixture.
  • Mix well and turn onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut out biscuits and place on greased baking sheet or cast iron skillet.
  • Cover and allow to rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
